What is Kristallnacht?
Kristallnacht or otherwise known as the “Night of Broken Glass” occurred on November 9th and 10th, 1938. This event happened when members of the Nazi Party SA (Sturmabteilungen) or otherwise known as storm troopers started to destroy Jewish homes and businesses. They also destroyed synagogues and other Jewish community centers such as hospitals and schools. The Storm Troopers killed at least ninety-one Jewish people. Kristallnacht was a big turning point for the Nazi’s anti-Jewish Policy (United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, 2014b).
