What is the Holocaust?
In 1933, there were over 9 million Jews in Europe alone. The Jews mostly lived in the areas that Nazi Germany took control of during World War II. By 1945, the Nazis had murdered 6 million Jews in the Holocaust. Hitler called the mass-murder of innocent Jews the “Final Solution” to having the perfect race (United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, 2014b).
